Benchmark Recruit, based at Omnia One on Queen Street, finds employment opportunities for people in the creative, digital, IT and traditional industries, while working with businesses to source the ideal employee.

With unemployment at its highest level in the UK since 1996, the company has seen an influx of people looking for work. 

To improve their effectiveness in sourcing jobs for clients, Benchmark’s recruitment consultants Rachal Williams and Thomas Wylie participated in a four-day training course on sales with Sheffield marketing company Bravura.  Both Rachal and Thomas had been with Benchmark for six months before embarking on the Bravura training which has provided them with new ways to develop a more focused sales plan, how to set targets and identify the most effective techniques. 

Subsequently following course completion Thomas billed 3 times more than before completing the training.

Amy Tingle, director at Benchmark Recruit, said: “The training from Bravura was a significant confidence boost to both Rachal and Thomas and helped them to introduce a more organised sales structure. They are now more efficient at identifying opportunities for clients and gaining them job interviews.

“We have certainly seen an increase in the number of people needing our assistance. At Benchmark we identify the ideal job opportunities to match a person’s skill set.

“For example, we have seen an influx of people from the construction and property sector looking for new employment. However, we work with them to look at whether alternative positions are available where they can transfer their abilities to another industry. By having better sales techniques we can achieve this quicker and more effectively

“Also, the consultants regularly contact companies to subtly and quickly identify information on the type of people which would be of use to their business. We can then help provide that business with a heads up when that person with the appropriate skill levels is available for employment.”

Benchmark Recruit was established three years ago and has enjoyed continued year on year growth. The company recently won a Silver Award in the Business Link ‘Bucking the Trend Competition’ at the International Business Convention in Bridlington.  In addition Benchmark have also been shortlisted for 2 awards in the Yorkshire Business Awards 2009.
